  1. The vibe of Priya’s videos are so relaxing and fun at the same time. I want to cook and chill with friends and find a spot to store all the tubs of ghee I’ll need.

  2. hope this doesn't sound weird but i love how much she focuses on the sense of smell! (it showed not only when she was cooking but also when she was telling that santa story)

  3. how is she a food writer but doesn't know how to saute? have these people never worked in actual kitchens before?

  4. "i forget what her husbands name was" -> "yellow onion"

apparently her husbands name was yellow onion. but maybe i have just watched too much of brad with the million corrections his editor puts in every video.

  5. I accidentally bought sweet cream butter instead of regular, so my ghee was not ghee. I didn't originally have curry leaves so I used what I had. It still was very delicious but didn't have the butter popcorn taste until i got some proper curry leaves, that made it amazing. Side note for anyone with kidney stones; the curry leaves put me into a world of pain after…. They're super high oxalate.

  6. Did anyone else get upset when she placed the hot pan on the beautiful wood cutting board and burned it?!?!?

  7. Is she a cook? She's with Bon Appetit, and that's how she slices an onion???!

Seriously?! That was painful to watch. Any professional cook would ask her what the hell she's doing!

  8. Some of the chefs on bon appetit have good recipes but no skills whatsoever. Can barely chop onions and can barely flip….. pretty basic stuff tbh

  9. Is rich okay in the background at 5:05 or is that normal in the BA kitchen to hug everyone? I really do hope he’s doing good

  10. i love priya's style of commentary! very friendly and conversational, plus i just think her voice is relaxing to listen to :' D

  11. There is word for peanut in Hindi Priya, it's "moongfalli" I'm just glad she didn't facetime her dad this time

  12. omg the peanut allergy thing, im not Indian, but yes, i've only heard of people with peanut allergies when i moved to US, and still, the only people i know with peanut allergies are some American people i met lol

  13. I am from the NorthPole and I promise you, pipe tobacco is NOT how Santa smells. Actually it isn’t even cookies, though people up north make some cookies for him as a dessert, Santa’s main course that is left for him, is rice porridge cooked on a lot of whole milk, served in a big bowl with a big «butter eye» and lots of sugar and cinnamon on top. The fragrance from this may be what you misunderstood as cookies… NB! What is called «the North Pole» when talking about Santa himself, Christmas etc., is actually a quite large area. Earlier, during my childhood, the North Pole, and Santas HQ, was in Drøbak, Norway 🇳🇴 (even if he still has an office there for answering mail and other secret Santa stuff that I am not told, not being an elf and all). But, a few years ago, Santa decided he needed more space for all the reindeer and his elves and other helpers of his, so he up and moved himself, Mrs Santa and everybody and everything else – to the North Pole, FINLAND 🇫🇮 (! I still can’t believe it, but in many ways, us up here @ and around the North Pole are one people, the Nordic People). Anyways…Since it is time for Pride many places now (some places celebrate in September here too!): Happy Pride! May all LGBTQIA+++ (PLEASE include any I may have forgot, that also includes feathered and furry friends!) 🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️🌈

  14. She pronounces it as Gee instead of gHee

Ga and Gha are two separate sounds in Sanskrit/HIndi. This was such a stupid dish. Puliagare rice is so much better than this one!

  15. Rhoda comes in the do the pan flip demo 🙂 I know she is the video director for BA, but it's good to know she has kitchen skills too. She should guest in videos more often.

  16. This girl is too slow, boring. And rich is good to a degree but that much rice is 1-2 servings so you’d be eating 1/4 to 1/2 cup of butter in one meal. No thanks, I don’t like feeling greased and ill after meals.

  17. The roasted mustard seeds/rai seeds have a similar taste as popcorn. It wasn't peanut. We use same tarka/chonk/bhagaar on daal/lentils and it still tastes like popcorn. The buttery taste obviously comes from the ghee. But ghee itself doesnt make it taste like popcorn.
I love Priya's personality but I think her skills in Indian cooking are average. But I guess that is what she is aiming for; make things easy an accessible for people new to Indian cooking and she does a great job at that!

  18. I love the fact you all are giving Priya and Christina more video time. I love that Andy presents Persian food. I love that Rick makes Mexican food. Are there any other cooks waiting in the wings to present their spin on food from their culture? Chinese? Filipino? Vietnamese? Thai?

  19. So its CHILLI peanut rice and not CHILE peanut rice. Why does everything Indian need to be Latin Americanized??!?!

  20. I like your recipe ideas and your banter but watching you constantly touch your face and hair then just touch all the food and not washing your hands which ok it could be edited out but i dont think it is.. but a big rule of food safety is dont touch your face n hair

  21. Ok….if your mustard seeds don't pop once you put them in oil, you should go back to your mama and apologise for calling her a manic…as she knows that un-poped seeds on medium heat give a bad bitter flavour. That is why even with mustard oil, you cook only when it's smoking hot.

  22. Priya, the word for peanut is mumfali. I am Aruna and have tried few of your recipes and must say they are pretty good.

  23. Folks, if you want to make this dish sing for you, add a pinch of turmeric and half a t-spoon cumin seeds right along with the curry leaves.
