Ghana Meat Pie Recipe

Hey guys welcome to my channel! In this video I will show you how I like to
make my Ghana meat pie. This is one my favorite snacks. It takes quite some time to make but its absolutely
delicious. Everyone makes their filling differently but
I show you how I make mine I used Grated carrot Chopped onions Garden peas Corned beef And to spice it I used A magi cube Garlic powder 5 Spice powder Ground pepper Nutmeg and dried basil Warm the corned beef over a medium fire Add the onions Mix the onions with the beef, and wait till
the corned beef gets a bit softer and the Then add the shredded carrots Then add the dried spices Mix it all together And lastly add the peas And that is it for the filling. While it is cooling we will move on to the
crust So for the crust you will need Flour Butter Water Milk Baking soda Salt Baking powder And nutmeg Combine the milk with water baking soda and
salt (and stir) Put the flour
in a bowl and add the nutmeg Then add the baking powder Use a whisk to incorporate the nutmeg and
baking powder into the flour Then add the butter Mix until you get a texture like this Then make a whole in the middle and add the
liquid. Don’t add it al at once, add it little by
little Kneed it for 2-3 minutes but not too long
other wise you’ll over activate the gluten and it will get very chewy and elastic Roll the dough out, add some flour when needed I used the pie mold to cut, if don’t have
one you can use a bowl, or a cup or any round object will do So this is the thickness were going for. As you can see its not too thick, but its
not too thin either Put the dough on the (pie) mold Here I am applying egg white at the edges
of the dough, I’m doing that because will be closing it. And applying the egg white will help keeping
it closed Then put the filling in the middle of the
pie Close the pie mold and remove the excess dough. You can save up the excess dough, kneed it
together and roll it out to make a new pie And if you don’t have a pie mold, this is
how you would do it Apply the egg white. Put the stuffing in the middle Then close it And press the edges down with a
fork Here the pies are on a lined baking tray,
use a fork to make holes in the pie. This is done so that the steam can escape Then apply the egg wash, and the egg wash
is basically egg yolk and i diluted it a bit with water. This will give the meat pie their golden (brown) color Then bake it in a preheated oven (200C) for
about 20 minutes and there you have your meat pie So this is how I make meat pie, I would like
